Homeownership Education Train-the-Trainer Program


ABOUT THE VHDA HOMEBUYER EDUCATION PROGRAM

 

Free Homeownership Education ClassVHDA’s free Homebuyer Education class is a great way to learn about the buying process and how to prepare for homeownership. Developed by VHDA, the course teaches the key steps to homebuying. The class is offered at a variety of times and locations throughout the state and is also available online. Classes are taught in English, Spanish and other languages.

Housing industry experts –such as housing/credit counselors, lenders, real estate agents, home inspectors, and closing agents — volunteer their time and share their knowledge to inform and empower buyers.

Anyone can take VHDA's free Homebuyer Class, but the class is required for those applying for a VHDA home loan. Participants who successfully complete the class receive a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to apply for all VHDA loan, DPA and MCC programs. ABOUT THE VHDA TRAIN-THE-TRAINER PROGRAM: Homebuyer Education

To facilitate or teach VHDA's Homebuyer Education class, you'll first need to attend VHDA’s Train-the-Trainer (TTT) class. The TTT program is intended to provide consistent, quality homebuyer education throughout the Commonwealth. The course is taught by VHDA’s Housing Education Team and provides you the opportunity to educate potential buyers in your community. The four-hour class covers:

"" VHDA’s Homebuyer Education curriculum for homebuyers

"" The roles and specific responsibilities as a facilitator and speaker

"" VHDA class participant, facilitator and speaker resources

"" How to organize a class

"" Our event management system

"" General guidelines

"" Marketing and outreach tools

"" The audit process

"" Our Qualified Trainer database


Once you complete the training, you’ll be listed as a VHDA Qualified Trainer on our website. The training also authorizes you to sign the Certificate of Completion for individuals who have completed the homebuyer education class.


Our TTT class is offered to housing industry experts and is taught in various locations around the state. To view or register for a class visit vhda.com/PartnerTraining. Online registration and a $15.00 fee are required. No WALK-INS are permitted.

 

ABOUT THE VHDA REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING: The Keys to Serving First-time Homebuyers

Learn about VHDA loan products and how they can help first-time homebuyers purchase a home with zero down. This class is taught by VHDA’s Business Development Officers and provides valuable information about eligibility requirements and much more. The two hour course covers:

"" VHDA Loan Products

"" VHDA’s Down Payment Assistance (DPA)

"" The Mortgage Credit Certificate Program (MCC)

 

This class is a great opportunity for all housing professionals: local government, nonprofits, counselors/educators, lenders, real estate agents, home inspectors and closing agents.

SO WHAT IS TRAIN-THE-TRAINER PLUS?

In an effort to continually provide our partners with increased professional development opportunities, this year VHDA’s Housing Education team has partnered with our Business Development Officers to offer you Train-the-Trainer Plus.

 

TTT-Plus includes the VHDA Train-the-Trainer: Homebuyer Education course in the morning plus in the afternoon at no additional cost VHDA’s Real Estate Professional Training. We are excited to share with you the opportunity to receive both trainings in one day. Registrants may elect to attend one or both sessions.
