Outreach to the African American Community
VHDA recognizes the need for a comprehensive, statewide effort to make significant progress towards increasing homeownership in the African American community. Our outreach initiative serves the housing needs of the African American community by promoting affordable housing and homeownership opportunities by providing trusted guidance; providing innovative structural support to housing agencies; expanding relationships and resources with faith-based organizations; promoting homeownership as a wealth-building tool; and improving homebuyer education and financial literacy to demystify the home buying process.

Wealth Starts @ Home Program
Get ready for your future! Did you know that owning a home is one of the best ways to increase your personal wealth? And with a little help from VHDA, it may be easier than you think. The Wealth Starts @ Home Program Tour includes free lectures and seminars at churches, faith-based organizations, housing agencies and college campuses where you will learn to take charge of your finances, manage credit wisely, understand the steps to homeownership, and build wealth through homeownership.
VHDA College Tour
Homeownership has proven to be one of the best ways to increase personal wealth. The College Tour is an educational outreach initiative in partnership with Virginia's colleges and universities to increase homeownership opportunities. The College Tour encourages college students to look beyond just making money by focusing on creating a personal action plan for building lifetime wealth. Learn more about the VHDA College Tour.
VHDA Harvest Project
The Harvest Project provides outreach, capacity building, and resource facilitation assistance to support faith-based CDC efforts to promote affordable housing and strong neighborhoods in the Commonwealth. Learn more about the VHDA Harvest Project.
