Richmond, VA - Eugenia Lockett, ABR, GRI of Napier Realtors ERA in Richmond, was awarded the first annual Virginia Housing Development Authority Service to Virginia Award for 2001 during the Virginia Association of REALTORS®' (VAR) yearly awards banquet held at the Richmond Omni Hotel last night.
Susan Dewey, Executive Director of the VHDA, presented the award to Lockett during the February 15 ceremonies. "This year our award recognizes the efforts of a Realtor who has shown extraordinary dedication to serving minority homebuyers in Virginia," said Dewey. "Eugenia has worked tirelessly in assisting Hispanics and new immigrants seeking affordable housing in the Richmond area. She has helped make homeownership a dream come true for families in search of a better way of life. VHDA is proud to honor Eugenia's work and community service, which has touched so many lives."
Lockett has worked in real estate for ten years. Since coming to Richmond in 1996, she has served more than 100 clients who are either Hispanic or first generation immigrants from other countries. She is a founder of the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for which she serves as the vice-chairman of the board. She regularly provides homebuyer seminars in Spanish, and is now a certified instructor for VHDA's first-time homebuyers seminars. An active volunteer, Lockett serves on the Virginia Association of REALTORS'® cultural diversity work group, and on VHDA's multi-cultural advisory board.
With 22,000 members, the Virginia Association of REALTORS® is the state's largest individual membership trade association. REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark which may only be used by those real estate professionals who subscribe to the REALTOR® organization's strict Code of Ethics, and who are members of the National, State and Local REALTOR® organizations.
The Virginia Housing Development Authority is Virginia's state housing finance agency and is self-supporting. VHDA issues bonds to raise private capital to provide low-interest rate home loans and other home loan financing alternatives to Virginians seeking safe, decent, affordable housing.
